Dromos Labs completed the merger of Aerodrome (Base) and Velodrome (OP Mainnet) into a single exchange called Aero on 22 October 2026, The Block and DefiPrime reported. The merger was announced on 12 November 2025 with a supply split of 94.5% to the Aerodrome side and 5.5% to Velodrome. Aero launches on seven networks: Base, Ethereum mainnet, OP Mainnet, Arbitrum, Circle's Arc, Ink and Robinhood Chain. The Block quotes Dromos as saying Aerodrome handled 58% of DEX volume on Base and Velodrome 60% on OP Mainnet in the third quarter.
Migration is manual. Liquid AERO converts one for one into the new token; each VELO converts into approximately 0.044 new AERO, a rate that depends on supply at launch. Locked veAERO and veVELO positions are retired and reissued as sAERO, and sAERO holders no longer vote weekly: they allocate rewards continuously to pools and receive a proportional share of those pools' revenue, with a 47-hour cooldown between changes. Dromos CEO Alex Cutler told The Block that all revenue goes to AERO stakers. Emissions to the legacy Aerodrome and Velodrome pools ended at launch; the old front-ends remain available for migration without a shutdown date, and Lisk depositors were asked to withdraw before 31 October. The new Slipstream V3 pools add dynamic fees that rise in fast markets and MEV capture on supported layer-2 networks.
For traders the practical change is where liquidity sits: pools that stop earning emissions tend to thin out, so quotes on the legacy interfaces will drift away from Aero's. On dexwatch, DefiLlama has reported Aerodrome and Velodrome as one protocol since the merger, so the Aero profile now shows the combined figures and the Velodrome profile shows n/a to avoid double counting.
