For swapping on BNB Chain, start with PancakeSwap. It is the chain's native AMM, has run since 2020 with audits from CertiK, PeckShield and SlowMist, and holds most of the chain's spot liquidity across its v2, v3 and Infinity pools. For a second opinion on price, 1inch and KyberSwap route across PancakeSwap, DODO and the smaller pools without a fee of their own. For perpetuals, Aster is the venue with BNB Chain roots and the deepest books; StandX is the newer order-book alternative, and MUX and ApeX are smaller options we track.
BNB Chain is cheap and fast, which is exactly why it is also the chain with the most fake tokens and honeypots. This guide covers the chain itself, how to get funds there, the swap and perp venues in our dataset, and the checks that keep a sub-cent swap from becoming an expensive mistake. Some links are affiliate links; the ordering follows our metrics and nothing else.
- PancakeSwap is the default for swaps on BNB Chain: 0.25% on v2 pools, four tiers from 0.01% to 1% on v3, and pool-set fees on Infinity.
- 1inch and KyberSwap route across PancakeSwap, DODO and the rest for no extra fee; use one when a pair is thin or very new.
- Aster, incubated by YZi Labs (formerly Binance Labs), is the perp venue with the deepest books; StandX is the audited newcomer whose margin sits in DUSD with a seven-day redemption wait.
- A swap costs well under a cent in gas at the time of writing, but the chain runs on 21 active validators and has been halted once, so it trades decentralisation for speed.
- Fake tokens and honeypots are the main way people lose money on BNB Chain; verify the contract address before every swap of anything that is not a major.
The BNB Chain spot venues in our tracker
BNB Chain's spot market is unusually concentrated: one AMM holds most of the liquidity, and the aggregators mostly route into it. The table lists the spot venues we track on the chain, sorted by 24-hour volume (each venue's total across all chains); the last column is our score, which weights liquidity, security and cost. Affiliate relationships are marked where they exist and do not affect the order.

BNB Chain in one paragraph
BNB Smart Chain is an EVM-compatible network that launched in 2020 as Binance's answer to Ethereum's fees. It runs Proof of Staked Authority: according to the chain's documentation, the top 21 validators by stake (the "Cabinet") produce blocks, candidates ranked 22 to 45 get occasional slots, and joining requires a self-stake of 2,000 BNB. Blocks arrive roughly every 0.45 seconds since the Fermi hard fork of January 2026. The minimum gas price is 0.05 gwei at the time of writing, and BscScan's gas tracker puts a token swap at well under one cent. The trade-off is decentralisation: a validator set this small can coordinate quickly, which is how the chain was paused for hours after the October 2022 bridge exploit, and the ecosystem leans on Binance, which runs the largest on-ramp and whose venture arm YZi Labs incubated Aster. The chain is cheap, fast and tightly run; it is not trust-minimised in the way Ethereum is. Our lesson on blockchains and networks covers the trade-off in general terms.
Getting funds onto BNB Chain
The common route is a withdrawal from a centralised exchange. Choose the network labelled "BNB Smart Chain (BEP20)", not the retired BNB Beacon Chain, and withdraw a little BNB first so you have gas; a wallet full of tokens but no BNB cannot move them. From another chain, a bridge or a cross-chain aggregator (KyberSwap and 1inch both offer one) will move USDT or USDC in minutes. One caution: bridged versions of the same stablecoin can exist under several contract addresses on BNB Chain, so check which one PancakeSwap's main pools use before you bridge. Our lessons on why you need a gas token and fiat on- and off-ramps go deeper.
Swaps: PancakeSwap, the aggregators and the rest
PancakeSwap runs three pool generations side by side. v2 pools charge a flat 0.25%; v3 pools come in four tiers (0.01%, 0.05%, 0.25% and 1%), with the lowest meant for stable pairs; and Infinity, the 2025 rebrand of what was announced as v4, lets liquidity providers set static or dynamic fees and attach hooks, with both concentrated-liquidity and liquidity-book pool types. You do not have to choose: the Smart Router splits an order across v3, v2, StableSwap and the integrated market makers automatically and shows the fee tier of each route in the swap details. A share of fees funds CAKE burns. The AMM mechanics are covered in how AMMs price trades.
1inch and KyberSwap are the two aggregators we track on the chain. Neither charges a fee of its own; KyberSwap claims 420-plus liquidity sources across 20 networks, and 1inch's intent-based Fusion mode, where resolvers pay the gas, has supported BNB Chain since it launched. Because PancakeSwap holds most of the liquidity, an aggregator will often route straight to it, but on thin or brand-new pairs the split across DODO and smaller pools can be worth a few basis points. DODO uses a proactive market maker rather than a constant-product curve, charges 0.1% in our dataset, and is better known on BNB Chain for its token-launch tools than for retail depth. Maverick is deployed on the chain but carries little liquidity there. Our aggregator lesson explains when routing helps.
Perps: Aster, StandX, MUX and ApeX
Aster has the deepest BNB Chain roots. It was formed from the merger of Astherus, a yield protocol, and APX Finance, a perp project, after YZi Labs invested in November 2024; it rebranded on 31 March 2025 and launched the ASTER token on 17 September 2025. There are two interfaces: a Pro mode with an order book at 0% maker and 0.04% taker, and a simplified AMM-style mode (now called Shield Mode) that offers up to 1001× on majors and is the reason Aster carries a leverage penalty in our score. Deposits come in from BNB Chain, Ethereum, Arbitrum and Solana, and since 17 March 2026 the venue also runs its own privacy-focused Aster Chain. Audits are published by PeckShield, Salus Security and Halborn. Treat the headline leverage as a warning, not a feature; our leverage lesson explains why.
StandX opened mainnet on 24 November 2025 on BNB Chain and Solana, built by a team from Binance Futures. It is an order book at 0.01% maker and 0.04% taker with up to 40×, audited by WatchPug and RigSec, and still pre-token with a points programme. Its distinctive feature is also its main caveat: margin is held in DUSD, a yield-bearing synthetic dollar backed by delta-neutral hedges, and redeeming DUSD takes seven days. The matching architecture could not be verified from the docs, and reported volume runs at roughly nine times open interest. MUX is a perp aggregator routing to GMX, gTrade and its own pools at 0.06% taker and up to 100×; our dataset lists it on BNB Chain, but its tracked activity is on Arbitrum and its current BNB Chain volume is not verified. ApeX is an order-book venue at 0.02% maker and 0.05% taker with a BlockSec audit that accepts BNB Chain deposits alongside Arbitrum and Base.

None of these matches Hyperliquid for depth. The case for staying on BNB Chain is that your funds are probably already there. Our perp guide covers the cross-chain picture.
Pitfalls: honeypots, fake tokens, wrong network
BNB Chain's fee level makes it the cheapest place to deploy a scam token, and the data has reflected that for years. Solidus Labs estimated in 2022 that about 12% of BEP-20 tokens were fraudulent against about 8% of ERC-20 tokens; a USENIX Security 2023 study found roughly 60% of tokens on the chain were active for less than a day; and Immunefi's chain report calls it a preferred target for rug pulls, blaming copied, forked contract code. Newer chain-wide figures we could not verify, but the pattern holds: meme launchpads such as Four.meme produce hundreds of tokens a day, and a share of them are honeypots you can buy but not sell. The defences are boring and effective: take the contract address from the project's own channel and nowhere else, run it through a token scanner, check that liquidity is locked, sell a tiny test amount before buying more, and keep slippage tolerance low so a sandwich bot has nothing to take. Our lessons on rug pulls and honeypots and token due diligence are the full checklist.
Two further mistakes are specific to the chain. BNB Chain and Ethereum share the same address format, so a transfer to an exchange on the wrong network does not fail; it lands where the exchange is not looking, and recovery depends on their goodwill. And a swap on a new token should never need an unlimited allowance. See managing token approvals and MEV and sandwiches.
Who BNB Chain suits, and which DEX to use
BNB Chain suits traders who already hold funds on Binance and want a cheap, familiar on-chain venue for majors and stablecoins, and anyone who accepts a tightly run chain in exchange for sub-cent fees. It suits less well those who want Ethereum-grade trust assumptions, or a beginner who will be tempted by the newest token on a launchpad. Swaps of any size: PancakeSwap, with 1inch or KyberSwap as a price check on thin pairs. Providing liquidity: PancakeSwap v3 or Infinity, choosing the fee tier to match the pair. Perps with depth: Aster's Pro mode, ignoring the leverage headline. Perps at the lowest fee: StandX, with size that respects the DUSD redemption wait. Whichever you choose, keep BNB for gas, verify the URL before connecting a wallet, and confirm the contract address on every token that is not a major. The first-swap lesson walks through the checks; the swaps ranking and perps ranking show every chain side by side.
